Bio: I was born in Ohio, have gone to school in Michigan, Illinois, and Tennessee. I met my husband, Larry here at Southern. We have 3 young adult children: Loren, Landon, and Ladonna. I love living in the woods, enjoy gardening (whatever the deer don't eat!) and have several cats and two dogs. My husband went back to graduate school at ETSU just after our children were born, then ended up in medical school. He is in Internal Medicine, concentrating mainly on older adults. I love Tennessee and plan to stay here. I am a southerner by choice, not by birth!?
Education: I went to Andrews University for pre-nursing, then to Hinsdale Hospital School of Nursing. After working one year as an RN, I returned to Andrews, then came to Southern to finish my BS in Nursing. I started working immediately after graduation as a clinical instructor, then went to Vanderbilt University for my Masters in Nursing, returning again to Southern to teach. While we were away for 10 years for my husband to go to graduate school and med school, I took one year of graduate courses toward a physiology degree at East Tennessee State University. I presently am taking one course a semester toward becoming an Adult Nurse Practitioner.
Clinical: I have worked mainly in general medical-surgical nursing, with some oncology experience. I especially enjoy the patient undergoing a diagnostic work-up or those with unusual symptoms.
